Globalpu News: Recently, allnex announced that as part of the Environmental Sustainability Governance Plan, the Liquid Resins and Additives (LRA) business line will be the second Quarterly switched to partially mass-balanced bio-based pentaerythritol in all alkyds produced at its European plants.
This thoughtful decision will enable allnex RESYDROL, SETAL, SETAQUA The industry-leading water- and solvent-based alkyd resins sold by the brand have a 25% increase in bio content, reflecting allnex's clear commitment to sustainability. This additional biocontent adds to the relatively high biocontent of alkyd resins, which can exceed 60% total biocontent in some products.
Through this shift, allnex customers will automatically shift their resin products in a more sustainable direction, allowing them to offer eco-friendly coatings. These bio-enhanced alkyd resins represent the industry's first transition to voluntary offerings from resin manufacturers at the same price point without the inconvenience of lab reformulation and testing or performance compromises.
As a result of this shift, the company expects to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than a thousand tons per year.
