Pharmacodynamics: Because flukes and mites do not transmit metabolites with GABA, and lack Cl channels controlled by glutamate. Therefore, this class of drugs is not effective. The mammalian peripheral neurotransmitter is acetylcholine. Although GABA is distributed in the central nervous system, it is safe to use because it does not easily penetrate the blood-brain barrier and has minimal effect on it. The mechanism by which this class of drugs affects the reproduction of parasites is not well understood, but it can reduce the spawning of eggs, the abnormal morphology of the eggs of the nematodes and the infertility of the filamentous nematodes (male and female).
